Risso’s dolphins await their fate in Taiji, Japan

The recent report linked to on this site referred to the fact that dolphins are not as intelligent as previously thought as despite having large brains only a relatively small proportion is made up of neurons the rest are cells that maintain temperature so that brain function is normal, i believe the report also stated that what you refer to as "Easily the most intelligent animal on the planet besides humans" may actually be outwitted by rats. Anyways it's all rubbish because the quality referred to as "intelligence" is a piece of human fiction, a manufactured virtue such as bravery used to measure something that doesn't really exist- what we're talking about is cognitive capability and we quantify it by comparing it to us- hardly an unbiased and proper way of investigating the subject matter.

btw rats, dogs and many, many other animals have social status.

anyways to the subject of killing cetaceans- as long as the amount killed doesn't negatively impact natural stocks i'm more than happy for folks to chow on a McFlipper but as we all know cetaceans have taken a huge hit in the past 300yrs and fishing on this scale is devastating. Regardless of whether they're intelligent or not they have a nervous system and are cephalised to such an extent that they are very likely to feel pain and as such the method of killing them is clearly inhumane (mind you no one complains about fish being crushed, suffocated and having their swimbladders rupture but maybe that's their fault for not having a hit tv show where they helped a dumb kid).

INTERNET FELLOWSHIP FOR CHRISTIANS

Daniel 4:1-18

THE MOST HIGH

"The most high is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes." Daniel 4:17

In King Nebuchadnezzar's early years, Babylon had two main rivals: Assyria and Egypt. In 1612 B.C., Babylon
crushed Assyria and made it part of the Babylonian empire. In 605 B.C., Babylon defeated the Egyptian army. Aft-
er that, Nebuchadnezzar mopped up lesser nations, including Judah and its capital, Jerusalem.

Nebuchadnezzar took pride in these conquests. He thought Babylon alone had triumphed over Assyria and Egypt. He
didn't realize that long ago, God's prophets had declared Assyria's downfall and Egypt's defeat. The king thought
that his unstoppable armies had crushed Judah and Jerusalem. He didn't realize that God's prophets had pred-
icted the destruction of Jerusalem long before as God's judgment on Judah's wickedness. The king was proud
of his power, but he was really just God's errand boy.

God is not just an inner feeling. God is the Most High. Jesus is not just an inspiring teacher. He is King of kings,
ruler of presidents and prime ministers, master of history. He raises up governments for his own purposes, and
he brings them down. Nebuchadnezzar thought he was a tough guy, but God scared him sick just by sending a dre-
am. He felt successful and secure, yet a mere word from God could take away his mind and his crown.

"I most high" is a lie. It soon becomes a nightmare.
Rev. D. Feddes.

"How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth!...God reigns over the nations; God is
seated on his holy throne." We worship you, Lord. Amen.

i think somewhere along the line, Butcher crossed my ideas with his, and immediately began recruiting players for round 19. the idea of advertising and recruiting new players never even came into play.

shortly after, elevator, a good friend of mine, asked me to play in Minions, even if it was a minor role (scanner, etc). i agreed, and told him i would play, but not to expect a whole lot from me. i played actively for about 200 ticks, was top 50 at one point, but ultimately got crushed and roided because i was just too inactive.

that's the type of role i had time for, certainly not to HC and alliance and/or start a recruiting/advertisement campaign. i'm sorry if you thought otherwise Butcher.

btw, i love when FormZ posts. i laugh out loud every time. bravo

Best and worst - actors and actresses

Best actor? Hm. Maybe Clint Eastwood (lots of charisma). I like Woody Allen too, though (the most neurotic actor ever). Another actor that comes to mind is Rod Taylor (also lots of charisma). He is simply marvelous in the original "The Time Machine" by George Pal. Another unforgetable role: Robert Redford in "The Sting" (yeah, again lots of charmisma - I guess I just like charismatic actors). John Cusack would be runner-up.

Best actress? Minnie Driver. No question about it. Minnie Driver rules. (I only say this because I have a crush on her and on this girl that looks exactly like her.)

Thoughts of an American.

I grew up in a democratic system of government. This is what was taught all through Kindergarten through College. Freedom of thought and expression were hallmarks of my early education. These concepts and theories integrated my belief in an American system of democracy. Consequently, I became a musician because of these inalienable rights. Make no mistake I am an artist and a capitalist because of this system that I believe in and our country. I don't however believe that a capitalist corporation such as AT&T has the right to subvert the first amendment of the constitution to which we all are accountable. This happened on the night we played Lollapalooza. I was dismayed to hear that the act of censoring free speech was used to edit our song Daughter for a webcast. Surely the American listening public can discern for themselves what they deem acceptable to hear. This is a hallmark of our American way!! The freedom to listen to what you want or don't want to. The American public was duped as was I in believing that I can speak freely without censorship.

I can only look to historical figures who are above reproach in my mind, such as Thomas Jefferson "I hope we shall crush...in it's birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country." I feel that corporations can still exist without worry of a few words at a rock concert and need not trample upon our constitution for the sake of profit.

Another example that I believe is relevant is a George Orwell quote from Animal Farm. "If liberty means anything at all it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear." Some people don't want to hear our political beliefs in a song but that too is the beauty of America. WE CAN DISAGREE and still function as a democracy. When one person or company decides what others can hear, that is totalitarian thinking! This runs contrary to America and threatens the core of our freedom. We can think for ourselves, AT&T. I had the great pleasure of seeing the Space Shuttle launch live in Florida today. This gave me a feeling of excitement and patriotism in my country today. It showed me a future of ingenuity and promise for a better America.

With that I will leave you with a last quote from the quintessential American "Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it." This is an example of my belief in what Ed was saying the night we were censored during Daughter. You can't get more American than Mark Twain!!! Say no to censorship, it leads to dictatorship!

Risso’s dolphins await their fate in Taiji, Japan

Cytat: Anyways it's all rubbish because the quality referred to as "intelligence" is a piece of human fiction, a manufactured virtue such as bravery used to measure something that doesn't really exist

I was about to say that, intelligence is very hard to measure, even iq tests for humans are fairly inaccurate how are we going to judge another species' intelligence if we cannot even judge our own...

Cytat: what we're talking about is cognitive capability .....btw rats, dogs and many, many other animals have social status.

bottlenose dolphins have been able to recognise themselves in mirrors so that would I think count as cognitive ability which we take as an indication for intelligence, this may be very sbjective but it is not like many animals can recogninse themselves so it might after all give us some idea about this so called 'intelligence'. Dogs cannot recognise themselves and I have not read any report claiming rats can either so I'd think dolphins are superior there. Although rats, dogs etc, have social structure, the structure in cetaceans is thought to be a a whole lot more complezx and they definately seem to have a more complex 'language' that even has dialects etc. I am not aware of something like that in either rats or dogs. I am by no means one of those new age people who think dolphins are superior aliens living amongst us to enlighten, help and heal us but I do think they are highly intelligent.

Cytat:Regardless of whether they're intelligent or not they have a nervous system and are cephalised to such an extent that they are very likely to feel pain and as such the method of killing them is clearly inhumane (mind you no one complains about fish being crushed, suffocated and having their swimbladders rupture but maybe that's their fault for not having a hit tv show where they helped a dumb kid).

Yes, yes we all know they are overrated and not enough people care about bony fish, sharks, plankton etc because they are not 'cute' but that is the way it is and it is unlikely ever to change and to be honest that rant is getting a little bit old, so how about a cetaceans are overrated thread for all those who want to vent some anger about this fact and just ranting about drive hunts here ? I do agree, they are not the saviour of humanity or the solution to all our problems however I don't think that is a reason to ignore them completely...

Guilty or Not Guilty

not guilty... though the thought of streaking with my crush comes to mind! hahaha...

Ever wanted to slap the "pretty" off Beyonce??

Her fine mat.

Sii didn’t notice how much time had passed it was getting dark. Sii’s Grandmother was at church there was a meeting underway for the elderly women for the Sepitema. This was an annual event held every September to honour the elderly mothers of the church. Sii didn’t go with Grandmother she stayed home with Butter and little Brother. Sii felt nervous she had spent too much time at Panju’s place and no one would be watching Butter. ‶Panju!” Sii asked ‶do want to come with me next door.” Panju fell quiet.

Sii stood up and walked to Middle brothers room she opened the door slightly and peeked through the small opening. Middle brother was at his desk. He turned and smiling greeting Sii. Sii couldn’t help herself she had to ask him ‶What are you doing Middle brother?” Middle brother replied ‶He was doing his math homework”. It suddenly dawned on Sii that she had reading to get done. But it could wait.

Panju’s parents were asleep in their room. Sii walked into Middle Brothers room and closed the door behind her.

When Sii had left she didn’t say anything to Panju nor could she remember where Panju was for that matter. Sii walked down the hallway into the kitchen and opened the door and walked outside closing the door behind her she stood there as she would in years to come on the deck in darkness.

Sii quickly walked down the steps flushed and afraid and picked up a sprint and ran home, she knew tears would only crush her, and there had been more than enough drawn from the well of strength that had always cradled her tiny spirit.

She walked up the steps to the house on the rock, her mind and body froze the chill of the night stung her like a wasp in feverish rage. She knew Snobby would still be awake and reading. She walked into the kitchen and just caught her grandfather walking out humming his favourite tune. The smoke in the air was vile his cigarette butt still burning in the ashtray.

Butter was crying Sii looked everywhere for her bottle. Butter stopped crying Sii ran to her and she found her in the lounge with Grandfather. Butter crawled to Sii, and Sii knelt down. Then Sii thought of an idea she jumped up and with small steps moved back, Butter cried, Sii walked back again and Butter crawled to her. Sii played this game all night. Sii laughed and cried at the same time.

That night Sii held a sleeping Butter on their bed. Their Grandmother arrived home, and as she walked in the room Sii heard her Grandmother lovingly say ‶mohe”. As soon as she heard her Grandmother's voice Sii closed her eyes and fell asleep.

First day at school
I was tryin to play it cool
Chillin with my friends, tryin to pretend that I didn't notice you
3 rows down, second to the left
With your big brown eyes, and your brand new dress
Right then I saw my dream come true, yeah
Cause my knees got weak, knocked off my feet
Tried but I couldn't find the words to speak
Can't let go, my heart says whoa
Girl I gotta let you know

Cause I got this awesome, amazing crazy kinda crush on you
And though I try to forget you it doesn't matter what I do
On my mind all the time, it's a crime
I can't deny it's true
Cause I got this awesome, amazing crazy kinda crush on you

Crazy, crazy
Crush on you

On the bus ride home
Finally saw you were alone
So I took my chance, asked you to the dance
And I prayed you wouldn't say no
Oh I just can't wait for Friday night
Gonna hold your hand when the time is right
Can't help but let my feelings show, yeah

Gonna walk you home, talk on the phone
Tell you how I'm feelin when we're all alone
Gonna jump and shout, sing it out loud
Girl you know there'll be no doubt

Cause I got this awesome, amazing crazy kinda crush on you(crazy kinda crush on you)
And though I try to forget you it doesn't matter what I do
On my mind all the time, it's a crime
I can't deny it's true
Cause I got this awesome, amazing crazy kinda crush on you

I never thought that I’d fall in love, love, love, love
But it grew from a simple crush, crush, crush, crush
Being without you girl, I was all messed up, up, up, up
When you walked out, said that you’d had enough

Been a fool, girl I know
Didn’t expect this is how things would go
Maybe in time, you’ll change your mind
Now looking back i wish i could rewind

Because i can’t sleep til you’re next to me
No i can’t live without you no more
Oh i stay up til you’re next to me
Til this house feels like it did before
Feels like insomnia ah ah, Feels like insomnia ah ah
Feels like insomnia ah ah, Feels like insomnia ah ah

Remember telling my boys that I’d never fall in love, love, love, love
You used to think I’d never find a girl I could trust, trust, trust, trust
And then you walked into my life and it was all about us, us, us, us
But now I’m sitting here thinking I messed the whole thing up, up, up, up

[17-01-2009] Timbaland - What cha know about this

[ft. Babe Blue (1 Life 2 Live), Mocha]

[Timbaland]
You see? I think it's time for me put it down..
.. for my females hahah
I'ma let my females shine on this track
You see? I ain't biased
I ain't racist either
So I'ma let uhh.. Mocha bring it in

[Mocha]
The one boss bitch not on that horse shit
Honey I wanna score with money I'm all for it
Speak the raw shit they on the floor quick
Prepare to be surprised, if you think I'm a poor chick
Got off the wall shit, who could be more thick?
Plus I can flip, rough-up, or flatten out, four bricks
As for the mic, I can break flow out, or either bless em
My style is my own, and a shorty, can't test it
So y'all - ramble on, I'ma get my gamble on
Ceram' handle-arm, while y'all scramble on
Want to battle? It's on, I'll take you on anywhere
I'll take you on a bus, on a boat, or up in the air
I'll take you on with the gat, I'll take you on on the track
I'll take yo' ass on a trip, and you never come back
Though this a freestyle, these styles ain't free
When I'm done, better believe, they got a PILE for me

Chorus: Timbaland and Babe Blue (repeat 2X)

What cha know about this, ha? You don't know
Lemme show you bout this, ha? We gon' blow
We don't go without hits, ha? Get the dough
You can never doubt this, ha? Ha?

[Mocha]
Y'all go 'head and yap on, I'ma keep rap strong
Talk but don't act on what you rap on (say what?)
I speak facts to beat clacks, and lead tracks
Heed that, relax, feedback? Keep that
Bet-ta ease back, never see me slack
Break your kneecaps - then, have you do three laps
Tryin to see this half a mil, y'all - dingy stacks
for - weed in sacks, tote - ki's to crack
Wonder why they can't keep they eyes off me?
Y'all chicks ain't 8, I'm a dime plus 3
Got a 6? I got a stack
Got a whip? I got a jet
Got a clip? I got a tec
That's why you not a threat
Wanna know how you could be down too?
Can not do, make em say "ahhh, oohh"
Been through it, put too much into it
And writin so long, I ran out of pen fluid

Chorus {except last line}

[Timbaland] Babe Blue

[Babe Blue]
Y'all chicks assed out, Babe Blue's here
Shook out your mind, cause my debut's near
All y'all demo chicks see me when you master yours
I surpass you whores, then I smash your broads
Shorty, don't get your hopes high, praise the most high
Babe Blue, livin loca
I crush all those, small hoes, what?
My go-to-the-store clothes is better than your wardrobe
You ain't seein mine, I walk right in the club
You one of them chicks that be in line
Me? Studded out, ice flooded out
Bitch you ain't nice - please, cut it out
Bronx to the death, we gon' spit raw
Timbaland got beats, what you talkin shit for?
Forget yours, Moch' and Blue, comin through
Bystorm, Z Man, tell me what you gon' do?

Chorus

[Timbaland] It ain't over!

[Babe Blue]
Y'all chicks talk a lot, now you wanna hate me?
Moch' and Blue, Cagney and Lacey
Start the biddin wars at 1.2
We gonna show all of y'all what one joint do
You wanna get the third degree, cause you never heard of me?
See thugs murder me, deep blood burgundy?
Hell nah, see I'm tryin to get my mail ma
But y'all chicks didn't know, so I had to tell y'all

Chorus

[Timbaland]
Doubt this, uh uh uh, whaaat?
Let it ride, uh uh, uh-uh uh-uh
Tonight (1 Life 2 Live) uh uh, uh-uh uh-uh
Uh uh, uh-uh uh-uh
(1 Life 2 Live baby) Uh uh, uh-uh uh-uh
Uh uh, uh-uh uh-uh, 1 Life 2 Live
What what? Uh uh uh uh
What cha know about this, ha?

Her fine mat.

Lahi and Lome were talking about a boy they knew in school. They were quietly chatting to each other on the rugby field while the rest of the class participated in athletics. Lome had developed a crush for a boy who was two years their senior.
He was a friend of her brother’s, her and Lahi would follow him around the school quad and Lome would often look on enviously as he talked to other girls his own age. Lahi didn’t have a crush on anyone, she was friends with most of the boys in her class but she often wondered why she didn’t have feelings for any of the boys at their school, of course that was all about to change.

The teacher asked Lome and Lahi to take part in the activities. Lome did not participate in anything that didn’t involve a hoop and a basketball, and Lahi would rather be reading, reluctantly the girls stood in the queue to throw a discus, the teacher demonstrated the correct position while the students watched attentively.

Along with Lome, Dee and Leza were also Lahi’s bestfriends. Dee loved to talk about boys, and it was no surprise that she had a crush on a boy in the same year as them. Leza was very quiet, and softly-spoken and unless Lahi coaxed her to talk too, Leza would happily let anyone talk above her.

The session had almost finished and the bell was about to ring. Lahi and Lome decided to run ahead of the other two girls so they could meet up with another friend of theirs called Elle. Elle like Lome loved basketball; a one on one game between the girls was the highlight of the day. Lome had picked up a sprint leaving Lahi behind.

Lahi walked up the wooden steps leading to the school quad she played a game where she would keep her feet together and jump each step till she reached the top.
Something distracted her momentarily and she looked up to see a boy standing at the top of the steps staring back at her.

Lome disappeared behind the large tree beside the cafeteria. Lahi and the boy stared at one another. Lahi thought to herself ‶he’s so beautiful”. His reaction was quite the opposite; it was almost as if he considered her as some kind of immediate threat. Lahi wanted to run away and hide but she could not take her eyes off him.
He held her gaze then suddenly Lahi realised that he couldn’t look away either, she thought ‶he can have anyone he wants”, Lahi began to feel irritated with him and she walked away, however she was well aware that he was still watching her.

Lahi saw him again later in the day, he was all alone, and Lahi knew better than anyone else what it felt like to start a new school. High school was an entirely different matter; it was an alien environment, with pressure from peers and parents, it brought back some very unhappy memories for Lahi of Lahi’s first day there. Lahi fought back tears it was a huge leap of faith for her father to send her to a co-ed school with only a handful of Pacific Island and Maori students there.

Later in the day Lahi found out they were in the same class and Lahi made it quite clear from the very beginning she was not interested. Although Lahi did change her mind, however he would not let her forget how at first she just ignored him, and from there on in their attitude towards each other began to take shape, they sat three desks away but were worlds apart. Lahi thought he was far too clever for his own good, and he thought Lahi never got the opportunity to show anyone just how clever she was.

That evening Lahi dreamed she was walking the same road again, it stretched on for miles. This time Lahi was prepared to go all the way and she wasn’t going to stop or give up. ‶Lahi!” a voice said. It was Sii, ‶Lahi I can take it from here” Sii continued.

Sii awoke she wanted some sorbet, she knew she shouldn’t but she decided she would do it one last time.
She was going to take the neighbour’s milk money and buy herself some candy.

Last Hours

My dear friend Karo shared this wiht me:

Her bright smile greets everyone as her twinkling eyes give a hint of mischief. Her and her friends pile into the car as they head out for the night, a night of partying..It was her ways, she was full of life and enjoyed life..

The car sparks to life as she turns on the ignition sucking back another rye and coke. Her laughter as another joke is shared.. her bright spirit alice and vibrant as she steers the car towards the lonely highway.

another drink is passed around as she swigs it back, the party was down island, so they had 45 min drive to their destination, so they needed the substance to keep them happy.

Speeding up as everyone encourages her and eggs her on for being so slow. She tosses an empty at one of them only to miss, the laughter in the car as the antics continued..

25 minutes till they reach their destination..the speed high.. She turns her head her red hair a dull flame in the night light bounces away from her face she gives a bright smile to her passengers as she grabs for another drink.. only to suddenly have to drop it as the car suddenly gets a mind of its own.

Grabbing the steering wheel she attempts to controle the beast, but fails..the car heads straight for the ocean as it flies over the embankment. the screams in the car as the car for a moment is sailing through the air, it touches a raised bolder that stops its flight and it flips the car over smashing it down on the roof, the occupants trapped iside..

The cries are heard, as the occupants struggle to get out, names are called out to see who is awake or not.. everyone responds, but with panick.

A prayer for help goes out by one in hopes that it will be heard. They try to keep each other calm having faith all will be well.

They struggle to get out of the crushed car.. but fail as the ways out only a cat would be able to get in or out of..

The time passes and the voices in the night begin to fade, as weakness takes controle.

She calls out to her companions and no one reponds, it had been several hours since she had heard from anyone, panick begins to set in as no one is speaking.

"Please god! help us!" her pleese are whispered through pained gasps. She struggles to move around some more to see if she can see any of her passengers or hear them, all she hear is the ocean slowly creeping up on them.

"God ! I promise! I wont drink and drive again! send us help!" Her paind cries as she is desperate.

more time passes as the ocean is now heard closer to her, her cries as she stuggles to move again, the pain imense the prison solid.

Her body begins to chill as the ocean breeze is bitter cold...

"Oh god! Help us! I wont ever drink again!" Her weak shouts as the cold bites into her bones.

She again tries to call out to her passengers, but nothing. She again attempts to move but the pain is so unbarrable she almost blacks out.

She begins to cry as she feels so helpless so alone. Her guilt strong ," why? why did I deside to drink tonight?" her pained voice now whispers as she becomes weaker by the minute, the ocean now lapping at the car,.

Her dispair now sobs as her mind races."I am sorry! I am so sorry everyone! "

The light appears in the distance as the morning creeps up, hope is there as now some one may see them!.

"Send us help! please god!" She hears the life on the ocean's bank as curious birds land on the car and around ...She gasps more painfully as the pain in her chest becomes more of a struggle...

She closes her eyes and reflects on her life, and what she has done.opening her eyes she looks to the ocean that is now in her car slowly reaching her, she cries some some more, her hope all leaving again, as the darkness threatens her .

"Oh my lord, forgive me ! I have done so many wrong things! Please release me from my suffering! get me out of here!"

Her plea as her pain finally is released, a hand reaches out to her and she takes it.. "it is alright, you are free to leave now" the voice says softly to her,.

Taking the hand she closes her eyes one last time, her breath spent, her last smile as she leaves behind the pain and the suffering...

::::::::::::;;

My friend Ronda was in a car accident on wednsday night, they did not find her car till about 11am thursday morning, at the time of the discovory , it had been thought she had been there all night.. and according to the guestimation.. she had only been dead a short time about an hourish to 3 hourishes.. Ronda was a heavy drinker, and she would drive while drunk, so .. I can only imagine what her last hours of life would of been like.. so I had to put it out on print.. not fully to what I was imagining.. but hopefully it will still have same effect to any one who drinks and drives..

be at peace Ronda,

Kroniki Mutrana

Cytat: Wherever you may travel in this vast universe of ours, it is likely you will run across someone who will tell you that Tren Krom is no more than a myth... just a legend of antiquity, no more real than Irnakk or any other figment of the imagination. Setting foot upon his island will not bring terrible consequences, they insist, just a pleasant walk on a rocky beach. To those beings, of course, I say, “What would you like for your memorial upon your death? So I can start planning it now.”

For it is a well known fact to those who know it well that Tren Krom is no myth. He is older than the stars themselves, born in a time when there was no Mata Nui, no Makuta, only never-ending darkness that encompassed all. He walked through a universe in the throes of its birth, and even the shadows feared him. To meet Tren Krom was to court madness, or worse... so naturally, the Brotherhood chose me to seek him out.

The reason for the meeting was obvious: the Brotherhood could not allow a being of such power to dwell unchecked in our universe. We had to know his intent and whether he posed a threat to the lands we watched over. Thus I followed a trail of half-remembered stories told by the mad until I reached the shore of an island whose shores had not welcomed a visitor in millennia.

In the interests of writing a complete record, I should include every detail of my time there. In the interests of the sanity anyone reading this, I will not. Even when I look back now, I remember only a scarlet mass, a face that was not a face, tentacles lined with tiny, sharpened hooks, eyes that were little more than holes in a gelatinous skull, and that voice... oh, that voice made Makuta Teridax sound lilting and sweet.

I expected to die. When Tren Krom’s mind touched mine, and I saw the reality of what he was, I almost wanted to perish in that moment... better that than to live with the memory. But he saw something in my thoughts that must have intrigued him... hard to imagine what it might have been, given how alien he was to any form of life. Rather than crush me in his grasp, Tren Krom explored my consciousness, like an Archives mole rooting about for a meal. It was amazing... it was horrifying... it was a view into a mind as far beyond mine as mine is beyond a fireflyer’s... and it was feeling my mind turn into a nest of serpents, hissing and slithering and trailing slime.

Then everything went black.

When I awoke again, I lay on the deserted beach. There was no sign of Tren Krom, or even the cavern in which I had encountered him. I thought perhaps the whole thing had been a nightmare, some trick of my fellow Makuta... and then I knew it could not be. For I understood now... I knew how the universe worked, and as much as my mind could stand, why the universe worked.

And I knew one thing more – that Makuta Teridax’s mad dreams of overthrowing the Great Spirit Mata Nui were not just fantasies. It was possible. It could work. The knowledge I held was the ammunition for the weapon Teridax would one day wield, a weapon that would win us a universe.

Dark Songs Of The Prairie, the first full-length album from Denver's ACROSS TUNDRAS, holds eight portraits of heavy majesty carved out of massive syrup riffage and spacious melodies. It's almost like hearing some mysterious 70's country rock outfit thawed out and refitted with mighty amplification, sludgecore tempos, and shoegazey shimmer that conjures up visions of the wide open prairies and looming mountains of the band's home territory. As weighty as the melodic heaviness coming from the from the whole "post-metal" camp, but coming from a different place altogether, ACROSS TUNDRAS draw a tangential line from Neil Young to HUM to NEUROSIS, and unleash a powerful new statement of rustic, crushing Americana. Features former members of Sioux Falls, SD post-hardcore outfits SPIRIT OF VERSAILLES and EXAMINATION OF THE...

REVIEW FROM DECIBEL MAGAZINE: What with Deadwood a now-indelible part of the national consciousness, its Shakespearian dialogue, shit-kicker palace intrigue, and hand-to-hand ultra-violence making for some of the finest drama on American TV, it’s time we give a pound to the Dakota territories. Across Tundras hail from just such a place—Sioux Falls, in fact—though their bio places them firmly in their adopted home city of Denver, which not only has no cool TV shows about it, but is mere miles from Rocky Flats, where they used to makes nukes. Wherever they call home, the trio, which contains members of Spirit of Versailles and Examination of the…, plays pure Western music, vast expanses of guitar crunch that owe as much to the wide open spaces of Morricone soundtrack vistas as Neurosis’ San Francisco bonfires and the mind-expanding buzz of Crazy Horse. Now, don’t expect any of Ennio’s twang—this is the album the Neil Young of Earth-2 made with Black Sabbath. (I think it was called Everyone Knows This Is Sweet Leaf. Or was it Cortez the War Pig? Six of one, either way.) Most of the songs are power trio whump ‘n’ roar, but both “The Old Sexton” and “Aura Lea, Maid of Gold Hair” are overblown acoustic sing-along/rants worthy of Royal Trux at its most fried, the ramble-tamble sound of filthy zombie hippies around the campfire chewing on the flesh of meth-addled bikers dumb enough to camp in their territory. You cocksuckers and hoopleheads need to know: Thar be the new West, here be the new Westerners.

REVIEW FROM TERRORIZER MAGAZINE: If ever an album title so aptly described the contents within, the debut from Denver's Across Tundras would be the one. Throughout the course of its 51-minutes, you're teleported, via a delectable mix of twangy, barbiturate-infused outlaw country, colossal post-metal a la Pelican/Isis and stirring indie shoegaze, to the dusty trails and backroads connecting America's ghost towns, where everyone rolls their own smokes, facial hair is not an urban trend and the alcohol comes from bathtub stills. Across Tundras can crush with the most crushing, as exemplified by vocalist/guitarist Tanner Olson's interplay with the unnervingly raw sounding drums in 'Ramblin' In The Shadows' and the title track. The plodding string trills and superb chord progression of 'If God Cuts You Down' adds to the music's transient and nomadic feel as do the vistas featured in the booklet photography, while 'The Old Sexton' and 'Aura Lea, Maid Of Golden Hair' are two filmic drones that could be precursors to a Sergio Leone-directed gunfight. 'Dark Songs Of The Prairie' has all that, plus the distinction of being that rare extreme music album that can take you back to a time where men were men and sheep were nervous.[8] KEVIN STEWART-PANKO

Unable to see reality too unreal

Tarja Turunen : A small dog would be nice

We e-mailed Tarja our reader's questions and inquired some of our own. We found out for example that Tarja has worn suspenders.

Subject: Fwd: How are you?

Hello Tarja, what part of the world are you at now?
Well hi. At the moment I'm in my home in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Summer is running out... What have you been doing?
We've done conserts on weekends with the band all over Europe. Otherwise I've spent my time here in Buenos Aires. I've taken singing lessons and taught my singing students.

How many times did you swim during the summer? With a swimming ring or without?
Not even once!!! Unfortenately. Normally surely without a swimming ring, but this summer's swims haven't been done at least at this point.

What pet would you want?
A dog - a tiny pet, not a big one.

If you don't have time for a real pet, how would you feel about a tamagotchi?
Well. That poor thing would surely die because its careless owner.

Which tamagotchi would you out into your bag: a dinosaur, a mouse, a cat or a horse?
A dinosaur, they have those? Smile

Superheros are now running on the movie screen. Who do you think is the tougest superhero?
On one hand Batman's coolness charms, but think I'll choose Superman's credible style.

If we'll test what you remember of your school years, you can return in your thoughts to your primary school. What kind of a student were you?
I was a hard working, quiet girl. I was the only girl in our class all during primary school (6 years). Our class was, or still is, the smallest in the history of Puhos' school.

What was your favourite food in school?
Makaronilaatikko. (A traditional Finnish food, a casserole with ground meat and macaroni, which is a type of pasta.)

What subject did you like and what not? Why?
I've always been bad at math. English was one of my favourites besides gym. Not to mention music of course!

What is your best school memory?
When I wrote a play on the fifth grade and it was chosen to be performed at the spring party (usually had in the beginning of June to celedrate the ending of the school year and beginning of summer vacation). I got to play the main role! I think I was a princess..

Who was your most personal teacher and why?
My music teacher. He saw my ability to make music already in an early stage and encouraged me. He was a young man with a long heavy hair. All the girls had a crush on him.

What do you remember about your music lessons?
I played and sang a lot. We didn't study much about music history or theory, but I had lessons about those outside school at the music institute. It was fun to sing in different assemblies with others.

Did you use a rucksack and what rucksack was your favourite? What is a good rucksack like?
I had a rucksack but I can't remember what it was like. Smile Ouch. A good rucksack has space for everything you need and good carry straps that don't rub the shoulders.

Did you have your school stuff in order in your desk?
I've always been a person of order so I remember putting books and other stuff in good order.

What was your style like in school? Does it have something same as your style now?
Well I think it had nothing the same. Otherwise I'm still the same girl. I was really determined, but pretty shy because the boys didn't give me many possibilities to stand out. I dressed pretty much the same as other children. Colours included neon colours, black and white. And we used lovely suspenders!

Can I say regards to our readers? What kind of?
Sure you can! Remember to be active in other hobbies besides school. It can really become a profession as has happened to me. A big thank you for your support. It always warms my mind to get lovely fan letters. Unfortenately I don't have time to answer them because the rush is infernal at the moment, but you're all in my thoughts. A nice early autumn to everyone!
With the best greetings, Tarja Smile

The Future

Cytat:
Biodiesel made from foodcrops such as soybeans and sugarcane add to the concerns about rising food prices due to the shifting of crops from food production to energy production. Maybe it's wrong to call that a scam. Let's simply call that 'inhumane'.

Cytat: Also: 1/3 of Brazil's cars = a fraction of all the cars that roam the Earth.

Cytat: Alsoplustoo: biodiesel is usually blended with regular gasoline. Most of the time those are 5% blends. The highest recommended blend is 20%. Add more than that and your engine will fail to work eventually. Your garanty does not cover fucking up your engine with crap that has not been approved by the car's manufacturer. The pomo-hippies that retinker your car to run on all sorts of alternative fuels do not tell you this.

Cytat: 70 miles on a single charge. Yeah. I've heard stuff like that. It's a scam. I've heard stuff like 250 miles on a single charge. That's not reality, though. What makes a car a car is the combination of range + speed. Electric car promoters always cite top speed and maximum range, giving people the wrong impression that electric cars can pretty much compete with internal combustion engines. Again: it's a scam. The first electric car that will take you 90 miles at 70MPH freeway speeds has still to be invented. Stuff like "this electric car has a range of up to 250 miles" and "this electric car has a top speed of 85MPH" is a blatant lie. If you actually drive that car at 85MPH, you'll be lucky to travel 10 miles before your batteries are flat. If you want to travel 14 miles, most of those electric cars have a top speed of 18MPH. And that's just a sad fact.

Cytat: Change all cars to electric ones and the Olduvai cliff comes in sight: the electric network will not be able to cope with that, resulting in brownouts, temporary blackouts and eventually: permanent blackouts. Woohoo! Alternative energy rocks!

Not.

Cytat: You can only build so many dams as there are waterways that lend themselves to be obstructed by a dam.

Cytat: How long did it take to build the pyramids?
How long do you want to wait for your house or apartment to be build?

Cytat: Will the workers that build your house agree to live in a workcamp in the immediate neighbourhood of the construction site?
How are you going to erect windmills in the middle of the Northsea or even close to the shore in the sea if you only use manpower?
How will you shape the iron and get the propellor aerodynamically perfect if you can only use your hands and simple tools? How will you make the isolation for the wires? How will you protect the metal you are using to withstand wind and rain and nature? Which biological paint will keep those from doing harm?
And so on.

Think before you write.

Cytat:

This is an observation I have often had before based on many other forums, both technical and not, regarding similar posting habits. You've been around here five or six years. You've built up something like 8000 posts. Perhaps you are a subject matter expert on a lot of things. Perhaps you are a subject matter expert on this very subject, although based on your posts in this thread, I would gather you are not. Regardless, to dismiss out of hand someone who offers a dissenting opinion is a sign of a weak mind afraid to be challenged.

I am not an economist. I am not a chemist, a petroleum expert, or even a professional prognosticator. I am, however, an electrical engineer. This gives me a familiarity and comfort level on the subjects about which I speak, however, it does not make me believe my opinions are infallible, nor does it make me an expert. I see no signs of your expertise in this thread either. It is a giant game of conjecture. Several people in this thread have refuted your arguments regarding fossil fuel. You have chosen your beliefs, and stick with them with a remarkable tenacity. Don't belittle others who chose not to believe as you do.

Cytat: The people here at NMA may seem unreasonable to the outside observer, but these are people who have had their hopes and dreams completely and utterly crushed, ground into a horrible paste, and then used to ice the crap cake that is Fallout 3. I can relate.

I hate Bro Hymn Tribute

Except for "The Brothel Song", nothing wrong with that one.

Huh huh, White Bob up in this bitch! With something
new. Check it out ya'll...

One to the two to the three to the four,
White Bob knocking on a brothel door
Then I rang the bell, it went ding dong,
"Open up, I'm in need of some serious attention!"
Then this petite young blonde, she let me in,
Asking greetings sir, what will you be wanting?
I said what do you think? I'm here to fuck!
But make sure I get plenty of bang for my buck
This confused her, she pulled a face and said hey?
We don't accept dollars here, this is the uk
I said I know that lil momma so don't you act cute,
Just see I get exceedingly good value
And I'm getting kinda horny so cut the chat,
Get those panties down and let me see your twat
She said no sir, you've made a mistake you see,
Although I work here I'm only the secretary
I said alright then we don't have to go to bed,
But hows about instead you give me a little head
A bit of White Bob in ya mouth lil momma,
Cos let me tell you this, you're one hell of a stunner
Work that mouth up and down on my big thing,
And don't you worry if you can't fit it all in

Cos it's bow wow wow, yippy yo, yippy yay White Bob's
in ya motherfucking house!
Bow wow wow, yippy yo, yippy yay, White Bob could
be in ya motherfucking mouth!
Yes I'm White Bob and I just don't stop,
Open wide bitch and feel me at the back of ya gob
And I'm a real rapper, I'm sure you've heard of my name,
And once you fuck with this honkie, you won't be the same

She said no sir, I can't see that happening,
But theres a nice girl upstairs and she's ready and willing
I said alright then I guess she'll have to do,
But once i've finished with her, I'll come back for you
So she took me upstairs to this fat old hoe,
Looked less like a woman, more a rhino
And I suddenly came over feeling rather unwell,
As from her pussy came this most unpleasant smell
I thought I've got to get out of here, I simply must leave,
My hooter can't take much more, I'm going to heave
And while trying to focus my mind through this nasty stink,
She confessed to be a fan of my music
Bloody hell I thought, now I really can't stay,
She likes my rapping, she is in a bad way
And I really can't take much more of this pong,
How the hell am I going to get out this situation?

So I said I'm not that rapper, I'm a lookalike,
She said I recognise ya voice and I know I'm right,
And I gather you're here to have sex with me,
I said you weight a bit much darling, I'll have to see
I might consider if this honkie gets to go on top
She said no White Bob, I wanna ride your cock
Look don't get me wrong girl, you've a nice large bust,
But if we do it that way, I might get crushed
Luckily she didn't take offense to this,
But one person who did and that was her pimp
A big fat fucker, who was clearly well fed,
With a look on his face as if constipated
Then he threw me out onto the street
Said you don't talk that way bout our fine pieces of meat,
And by the way, I think your rappin is crap,
Leave this establishment and never come back
So I set off home feeling not best pleased
In for another evening of adult dvds

Virtual sex with Tera Patrick tonight I think...

Fallout RP- Systematic Annihilation

The new allies stood for a long time watching the burning Desperado like everyone else in New Reno that night. What they didn't realize is that they were being watched as well. Off in the distance two men in power armor looked through computerized binoculars at the Wrights and their new friends.

"So, it looks like there still is some hope left in this god forsaken place." One of the men said looking over to the other.

"This is big Garret, these people just shut down half of the Enclave's operations in a matter of hours. With their help we
could-" He was cut off by Garret.

"Stop the Enclave?" Garret took a deep breath, "If it were only that easy. You saw the Enclave's operation in the Glow, it looks like a fucking fortress on buffout! Plus, that monster Valice keeps watch on the surrounding terrain tirelessly. Not even our spys have been able to get in there."

The other armored individual shrugged, "Well, at least we know that we got some allies out here. Should we follow them?"

Garret smiled, "We'll follow them, once they are a good couple of miles outta' town we'll have a chat with them. There is alot of 'em so we have to bring the squad with us when we approach. Just in case."

The two walked off into the night, their Brotherhood paladin capes flowing with the wasteland wind displayed the Brotherhood of Steel sign like the flags of a post apocalyptic country. With in a moment they were no where to be seen.

-------------------------

The Glow-

The ghoul's blue glowing skin infuriated him, he was always angry at him, always wanting to tear him apart. But, he needed the blue bastard, he needed his expertise.

Valice felt his rage heating him up when his little blue friend had told him the news that the factory up north had been destroyed, and not just the factory but his pathetic Mordino allies had been thrown off this mortal coil as well. His rage flowed through his body like waves of fire.

"Humans..." Valice thundered, he gripped the blade of his strangely crafted sword. He was always surprised that no matter how hard he squeezed the hilt of his blade it never crushed from his strength, yet another genius invention of his blue nightlight of a ghoul friend who stood by him knowing that Valice could snap at any moment and begin tearing pieces of his anatomy apart with ease.

"I wanted those Mordino's to be the front lines when we chose to attack Vault city." There was a long pause, Valice despite his overwhelming rage was deep in thought. "We have sufficient intelligence about Vault city's defenses to know that if we were to attack there is a large possibility that we can win, with the newly equipped vertibirds and the new weapons, not to mention the hundred or so men wearing fusion power armor that could play a vital role as the first wave of attackers.... I've made my decision." Valice said to no one in particular.

The glowing ghoul dreaded the thought of open war, but he knew that it was inevitable in the end.

"We attack Vault city, with Vault city out of the picture there will be no more research for a cure and the plan can continue unhindered. Rally the troops, we're going to war!" Valice exlaimed with a clenched fist, his thunderous voice shook the cowering ghoul's soul to the core as the full realization of what was going to transpire over the next week came full circle in his radiated mind.

War, war never changes...
